Tractor Engine Weight IH 454

Hello All
Can someone tell me about how much the engine would weigh on a 1971 IH 454 gas tractor? I want to make sure I have an adequate engine stand should I rebuild the engine. Tractor data says the shipping weight on the tractor is 3800 lbs. Thanks.

I'd venture a guess of 6-800 depending on what you leave on and what you take off before you put it on a stand. Block alone will probably weigh in at around 200, crank probably 100 head about the same other parts will add up pretty quick.

That little 4 cylinder gas engine probably weighs between half and two thirds of that.

i had a 4 cylinder diesel for a 584 on a 1200 lbs stand and no problem, i would say what you are looking at is 800 lbs or a little more.
