A friend who drives OTR sent this photo
to me. He's been saying for years that I
should have an LTL9000 to go with my
Ford tractors. I think he's found the
perfect one!

Louisville style trucks are and have always been very popular trucks in my area. Not a lot of road tractors, but tandum, tri axle and even Quad axle dump trucks are still hauling every day. They were as tough as you could get. A friend of mine had at least 10 at one time hauling asphalt and gravel. Ford tractors and big Ford trucks were in my opinion at the top of the list in their day. Sadly The Ford Executives decided to cease production or sell out.

It was kind of disappointing when they became "Sterling" in what '99 ? Same year we lost the 3 cylinder and other tractors from the same era. A friends father had a small fleet of "Louisville" tractors and trucks, he worked a day job and had a trucking business going for many years. He's in his 80's now and has one tractor on the road and various trailers, still working, but slowed down considerably.
