Tractor History

Hello all! I'm new to this forum and had a question for you.

I have my Grandfather's 1955 Farmall 200 and will begin restoring it hopefully in the near future.

Are there sources to trace a tractor back through the years to see who all owned it, where it was used, where it was originally sold, etc? My uncle told me my Grandfather bought it new but I have doubts based on the original delivery form.

(If this is one of those questions that pop up all of the time I apologize, but I couldn't think of a way to search for it.)

Sometimes you can trace serial numbers back to the original dealer. From there, numbers are not recorded into history like cars and trucks. Tracing farm equipment is not easy. If you have bills of sale from the day it was sold, then you have everything there is to track its past.

Most of the Farmall history seems to have been either lost or mis-placed during the merger with Case, but you can click on the link provided and see what you can find.

Even if you don't find what you want, you will still enjoy the trip.

What about the delivery form makes you doubt that your grandpa was not the 1st owner?

Figure your uncle was right and enjoy being the 2nd owner.

While the 200 is not a rare tractor, I think it is the least common of the Farmall tractors and a real nice size if you want to haul it to shows. Welcome to the site.

Some of the descrepencies on the Delivery Report in the owner's manual:
1) Someone else's name is scratched out on the buyers line and my Grandfather's name written above it.
2) The wrong serial number is written on the serial number line
3) The tractor is a 1955 and the sale date on the report is 1958
4) The trade-in is listed as a 1954 Super H.
5) The Farmall 200 is crossed out with a crossed out 300 written below it and 200 written above it.

I have a few ideas on what might have happened, but it's just speculation.

It's really not important to me if he was the first owner or not, I just thought it'd be interesting to track it's history back to the factory. I love the tractor and my earliest memories of my Grandfather were my brother and I riding and later getting to drive this tractor all over the pasture. Needless to say, I want to do this restoration right!
