Tractor identification? Need help.

I inherited a Massey Ferguson tractor. It gets confusing from here. From the appearance of the tractor I am lead to believe it is a 165. However it came with a manual for a mf65, .I contacted AGCO to see if they would assist me in figuring out what model and year the tractor was produced. They responded, stating they think it was a mf30 industrial, 1963/1964. I looked up the mf30 industrial which has similar looks from what I could see from limited available photos. I am having difficulty getting a sold answer for the year and model of this tractor, this particular fracture looks agricultural. It does have a gas 4 cylinder motor, and 6 speed transmission. The serial number plate is located below the batter access under the steering wheel. The serial appears to be 9AII43xx. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

ps. The tractor is red and has no indication that it was ever yellow like the industrial tractors I have seen from Massey Ferguson.

Some quick questions. Is the hood rounded and opens from the side? and has the air intake at the front thru an opening in the hood? Is the grille round and has two screens that are removable or hinged? Or is it more squared and has just a center cover to get to the fuel cap and radiator with a rise before the dash? and has a round medalion at the front. Are there fenders on the tractor are the squared or rounded? If it is a continental gas it will has a serial tag just behind the distributor. If it is a perkins gas the numbers will be stamped in the block. I have attached pictures of an 65 and 165. You may also get more information at www.tractordata.com : www.agcopartsbooks.com : and or www.agcopubs.com Hope something here helps I really don't think it could be a 65 due to the serial number. The 9A prefix was started during the 100 series tractors, the bad part is serial numbers were not model specific. By the way an industrial tractor would have a non adjustable front axle. The 65 and 165 were available in low, standard, and high (row crop)clearance models and had many different options available.

That tractor is definitely NOT a 65. It is newer than that. It could very well be a 3165 which is an industrial version of a 165.

To me it looks like a standard agricultural 165. Front axle appears too light for
an industrial model.

Looks like a 165 gas with the perkins 4 cyl gas ( not
common) due to the exhaust coming out the left
side of the head. That would have been the only
gas option where the exhaust comes out that side in
a 4cyl. I dont think its a 3165 since it doesnt have a
shuttle shift trans.

The 1971 year serial number starts 9A 107519 and ends 9A 128140, so it's a 1971 late Perkins AG4.212 that replaced the earlier Continental G176. BOTH engines had the plugs on the left side when seated, with carb and exhaust on the right . The diesel AD4.203 had the exhaust on the left side as that engine has a cross flow cylinder head.

It could be a MF30, is the front axle adjustable in width, or is it a one piece non-adjustable width?

NYDOT had a very sizable fleet of 3165 tractors with straight 6 speed transmissions, no shuttle.
