Tractor Insurance

Should be covered with household stuff and other personal stuff what about golf clubs, guns hand tools ect. Just mite need to find a new ins. man

Mine are covered by my hobby farm policy, I have liability coverage on all of them and fire/theft on the more valuable pieces

Farm Bureau covers my tractors. I declare the value of them on my Farm Policy. I would think you would be able to add them to your home owners insurance if you don't farm. Like anything, you will pay extra, as I do on my Farm Policy for the coverage.

Kind of depends on what you're looking to have them covered
for but laws vary by state in any event. Here in Michigan,
homeowner's insurance will cover your tractor on your property.
If you put it on the road or a trailer or take it to the neighbor's
house to help them out, you're on your own. Or on your neighbor's
homeowner's policy. And, homeowner's policies will generally
only cover one tractor that is used to maintain your property.

Farm policies are different of course.

I bought a rider to cover mine when I take them to shows or
pulls. Took my State Farm agent a while to figure it out
because most guys don't bother with it apparently.

I wanted to make sure if one "fell off a trailer and hit a car"
the folks in that car where covered. It really isn't expensive.
Off the cuff I think it's about $100 a year for multiple tractors.

I have two tractors insured with Hagerty and have been well pleased although I haven't had any claims. Give them a call and tell them what you do and where you go with your tractors and see if they will cover all your needs.

(quoted from post at 02:42:13 05/31/16) I am wondering if anyone can recommend a insurance company that covers old tractors?
Thanks

Since I don't have a farm I called my insurance man and told him what I needed. I now have replacement coverage for each tractor (I declared the value) and then a half million dollar liability policy in case something were to happen. For 3 tractors it runs me around $90 a year.

You should always check with your insurance carrier for coverage. I can have one tractor covered on my home owners insurance. All of my other tractors are on a personal articles rider on my home owners policy. As stated earlier, once the tractor leaves the property it is not insured. I have State Farm for both home owners and auto insurance.

I was told by my agent that I have NO insurance if any of the tractors are used in any type of competition such as a tractor pull. So if I were to have an accident while going to or from a pull, it would be a "Tractor Show" as far as my insurance company is concerned. This is on my auto insurance policy.

Also, your auto insurance will only cover the hauling vehicle and the trailer/load as long as it is all intact. In other words if you have an accident and the tractor comes off the trailer and causes damage/injury you are on your own.

Again always sit down and have a face to face with your agent and find out just what the limits of your policies are. I know it was very enlightening for me when I did it.
