tractor not start

Ford 5000 diesel wont start even when jumping the starter. was running fine then quit. wires all good. battery full charge. power to starter & regulator.

I assume the starter really makes no sound and is not turning the engine? By “jumping the starter“ do you mean that you connected across the terminal on the starter solenoid big terminal to small with something metal and it did nothing? Or is “jumping” only meaning connecting to the battery with jumper cables?

Sounds like your starter has given up. There should be two large terminals on the solenoid. If those are not crossed fairly deliberately they will spark. There should be a smaller terminal and wire also on the starter solenoid it may even be an insulated spade. Attempt to short that over to the terminal with the battery cable on it. If you can do that and get nothing it is probably a definite that the stater needs pulled and repaired or replaced.

On many engines with a bit of wear the starter drive can get bound up in the flywheel ring gear which can give the same symptoms you describe. Usually you can rock the engine a little and get it freed up or worst case remove the starter. But if all this happened when it died you better make sure the engine isn't set up for some reason

Need clarification: Did the tractor die while running?

Need further clarification: Tractor won't crank or tractor cranks but won't start? Two very different things.

Is it already fixed and you're back out haying and not updating us?
I am not sure what is to be gained by “poking” someone like this? Obviously, she needs help and has found to come here for it and she will find her way back in time. In one of her other posts someone poked her and she came back with “I have 3000 bales laying in the field to pickup! What am I supposed to do?” All in due time I say.
Edit to clarify: I did not word it exactly as her past post. It was said in the terms that her first priority was picking up her bales, not posting an update on YT.

Now now, you're misinterpreting there. You know as well as I that lots of folks come on here, present problems, then go dark. I like to assume they've resolved it and they're back at it- which is moreso reinforced by you bringing up their post from 8 years ago indicating a tractor breakdown could leave a lot in the field.

Okay, understood in your context.
