6V or 12V? Whichever, is the system, wired correctly? Test the battery under load at a local ALT/GEN Shop and do the Fuel Flow test 1st. What does thread length have to do with anything? Using the correct plugs gapped right? Are plugs wet after cranking? Got an I&T Service Manual?

The odds of all four (?) spark plugs going bad simultaneously is slim to none. You'd notice a miss first.

Has it become hard to start or has it been this way since you've owned it? Are you using the choke?

The engine isn't fuel injected so you just can't hit the button and expect it to fire off. It is also highly unlikely that you can just set the choke and forget it. Every engine is a little bit different on what it needs for choke. Most will need some brief application of choke. Always start with none and work your way up to avoid flooding the engine.

Have you checked compression?? If it is low that will make it hard to start and will also not give you the power it should

It will have good spark if it is a mag even with a dead battery. Sparkplugs should not be "lawnmower" type. I would suggest yesterdays Tractor parts (Oliver OC3 tractors are later versions of the cleatrac. Spark Plug - Standard tip, 7/8 inch-18 thread, 5/8 inch reach. Replaces Champion W10, W14, W18. NOTE: Verify spark plug type before ordering. (Item #: 130074, Ref: AL3076) $7.70 Jim

Have seen 4 plugs go at one time. Was mowing corn stalks one fall with farmall h. Tractor running fine. Quit instantly. We pulled it to barn and dad went to checking it. Still was a mag system. I remember he said it had fire and gas must be in mag. Went and got the local mechanic to come over. He checked and rechecked everything. Finally asked when the plugs had been changed. Dad replied no way all 4 quit. Mechanic got plug wrench and pulled plugs. Took a wire brush and cleaned and checked gap. Put them back in and said crank it. Was running before it turned full revolution.

Spark plugs "not lawnmower type"? All my Hercules IXB engines run Champion J8 spark plugs. That J8 was a very common spark plug in lawn mowers back in the day. I also have a Cletrac GG (Wheel tractor) that I think has those spark plugs in it. Also, the J8 is a 14 mm plug.

If your Cletrac is a different model, let us know. Also, Has it been sitting? The gas we get now here in NC goes bad and refuses to vaporize after a while. A lot of bad gas has been blamed on "bad" Champion spark plugs.
