Tractor Seat

Has anyone tried the Universal Tractor Seat from Northern Tools on their N? The original metal seat with the holes in it is not very good for snow plowing! I get frost bite butt! I'm looking for a replacement seat that will be a little warmer than what I have.

Thanks,
Danny

No arm rests but what about one of the seat covers commonly seen on evay and other places. I have one and it sure helps. Still not a plush, super soft seat but beats the holy metal pan.

Why not buy a nice padded cushion cover made for the N seats ? I have one & it works great for the buns . It also stay more original . God bless, Ken

Danny;

Since we live in the same environment, I can definitively tell you the cushioned seat you can find on this site will be a great relief on the buns. I had mine for the last storm we both had & I love it

Danny;
Nice looking seat, BUT...... the problem I see with that one is the covering is made of molded clothbacked plastic or sim. material. I had one very similar to this one on my JD, and the covering did not last very long. The sun baked the material, and in about 8-9mos. it started to rip apart at the stress points along the edges.
On my 2N I bought one of the tie on padded seat covers for the pan. It has been on there for a little over a year with NO problems, and it conforms nice to the BUTT. :lol:

Danny,
My 8N came with an aftermarket blue & white seat similar to the one mention plus the original metal one. The aftermarket one is so comfortable, I have not been tempted to put the metal seat on just to be a "purist". Of course I will never be pushing snow in this part of Texas either.

My big arse will warm that pan up fore you can say Berrrr.

My problem with it, was this summer.

Go out there and flop down in that sucker, in my shorts, and it be 250°.

Yep, I can still stand up quick.

Hello,
Why not a big ole lazy boy recliner up there? Nah, just kiddin. I saw a good lookin seat at Tractor Supply the other day. It was some kinda cloth covered but looked durable as all get out. On the pricey side though. That Kodiac Cordura seat I think it is. But it all really depends on how much hind end you got to loose!

When I first got my 8N 25 years ago it had a reasonably nice leather cushion that tied onto the pan seat. When it began to fall apart I took it all apart and copied it, using a very sturdy vinyl material. I sewed it together, stuffed it with foam and attached grommetts to tie it down. (I had way more time than money then...lol) It has lasted over 10 years now and is going strong. You can see a not so close picture of it in the linked picture. (because of the ~ in the url, this site won't allow the picture to be embedded)

My folks have that set on a little JD garden tractor. Been there since July 2007 with no problems. The origional seat only had a bout a 3 inch back, and it didn't provide enough support as my parents wanted.
Can't comment on how well it'll hold up over the years, but so far it looks good.
Yes - we had to build a bracket to get it to fit. It wasn't a direct bolt on for their aplication.

I have a seat similar to that on my 5000.. I LOVE it..

Don't see why it could not be made to fit a 8n.. etc.
