Tractor serial number

I have looked up the serial numbers on a 1968 Ford 2000 which is what I was told when I bought mine but would like to no more information. On the transmission where the serial numbers are mine has 1042A and up under that it looks like C1320386C17. The last three digits are not very clear so I may have those wrong. Wth these numbers can anyone tell me more about my tractor?

C1320386C17 looks like the serial number and production code all run together. the serial number should be the C followed by 6 numerical digits, so the serial number should be C132038, which is a 1966 serial number. 6C17 would be the production code, meaning that March 17, 1966 was the date of final assembly of the tractor, which agrees with the serial number that it's a 1966 tractor. There should be another letter (A, B or C) at the end of the production code which would tell us which shift assembled it.

1022A looks like the model number, but it's missing the first character. A 2000 would start with a 2 if it was made before October 1968 and a B if it was made after that. Since the serial number and production code both agree that it's a 1966 tractor, let's assume that the missing character at the beginning is a 2. The 10 is a general purpose agricultural chassis. The first 2 after that is a gasoline engine. The second 2 is a transmission driven (non-live) PTO, and the A at the end is the 4 speed transmission.

Thanks for the answer. The tractor is in great shape now (I had to do some work on it such as changing carburator,fuel pump and cleaning the tank)but run good now and will do what I need it for. Disapointed that the company I bought it from told me it was a 1968 but I guess 2 years on something that old does not mean a whole lot of difference. I bought it from a Ford tractor dealer and he should have known what the year was. I have learned alot from this site and will know alot more if I need to buy another. Great information and great site.
