tractor show

hey there guys an gals. i would like your alls input on our show stuff that we as a group have thought about on the trophy stuff. we are thinking of the following.. please give only helpful oppions please... have a 1-2-3 and best of show for each cat. of tractors by judge dession. have a 1-2-3 for specatators/shows dession. and a over all best of show. then have like oldest shower, youngest shower, traveled furtherest shower, and a trophy for best work dressed in each catagories to.then put a best restored in each catagorie also. and try to get it where not the same person gets all so its fair to every one that they get a chance too. we also have like a door prize drawing for diffrent donated items too. what do you all think of these ideas? please help encourage me here. thanks for it in advance. angie in mo.

I'm not a big fan of judgeing at tractor shows. Just puts more seperation between the haves and the have nots.
Save the trophy money and use it to buy gas for the ones who show up.

Sign me up I would love to take tractors to shows like that. They are far and few between on the east cost. I always thought most clubs do not have them as so the hobby does not get like the car shows and can be fun on a young families budget. You may want to add two other classes. Divisions for original tractors in their factory work clothes not all shined up like mine are and a category for farther/son or daughter projects.

i agree with northeast puller i would love a show like that give you an opportunity to get something physical out of the labor of showing these old tractors i once got a 3rd place for best of show i worked hard on painting my tractor with what i had at the house while my future brother in law (who thinks hes the best body man in three counties) had his there all shined up and he didnt get nuthin he has the best of equipment to paint with it actually looks fake the way he does it well i was real proud to take a trophy in front of him he just about sat down and cried

Forget about all the judging and trophys. I like to show my tractors as well as look at what others have collected. If you are going to have judging, I will not take my tractors, and probably not attend your show.

we have always done it at our Show in NE Missouri give the winners a small plaque have best of show featured tractor, restored tractor, nonrestored tractor, Steam engine, scale steam engine, and oldest steam engine the same for small engines then fartest traveled We have never had anyone complain and have 200+ exhibitors with 400+ gas or diesel tractors 20 steam engines and a lot of small engines. Have done it since we began 21 years ago we dont make a big deal out of it just hand the plaques out in the parade on Saturday plaques are done in memory of a member that passed on that year. Were is your show at?

My observation from attending all sizes of shows in several states is 2 things, and the two things seem to dovetail together.

The first is that many of the clubs give out trophies and awards in their earlier years and then fade away from it in time as the club grows and matures.

The second is that shows that give out trophies are somewhat defined by geography. Shows in states that are traditionally big farming states and have lots of big shows don't do the trophy thing.

How the two dovetail together is that the big farming states with lots of big show have just been doing it much longer than others and have probably done away with the awards years ago.

Our club is only 12 years old, and we might only have 100 tractors at a show. We still do the trophy deal and most people like it. Time size and the maturity of the club may change that some day.

nothing wrong with giving a trophy to someone who put time into his tractor.. sounds like lots of sore losers on here ? well maybe u need a finished & unfinished class , like original & restored gives some of the others a chance also. & maybe a big trophy for the most of attendace of a tractor club. that will get more people there im sure ( as our local car show had that & all u see is rustangs (dime a dozen car)all over Yes they won with most club of there club showing up)but it got people to attend. um forget about the spectator trophy i dont know how u can judge that one most people will just put in for there buddys tractor not the one that looks best or better done. O & anyone can paint a tractor but if done right it can & will look better than a professional job as i beat out 2 people at the show who are profesional painters (or they say they are) ill try to attach my first place sc if i can

Trophies and judging is not a downfall to any show or event. Most who participate in that type of activity do so to show off thier efforts and should be rewarded.

I will certainly try and make that show, even if there is no "Most Original and used daily by an over 50 owner category"

btw angie, I see some dust on the starter. Better get to cleaning it again. Nice tractor and I am certain there is some envy out there, mine included.

I belong to several clubs that put on a show and atend several shows that I have no conection to except to see and none have ever had or would concider judging. Something like longest distance to show or oldest exibitor might go but judging never will go.

Tractor shows ... was wondering. Are the shows of only old tractors?? Like I have a Long 610 DTC. They stop making them in 98 and mine is 84 or 85.
Would it be ok in a tractor show? If so what kind of show?

Where is your show? I think one time you asked about one in central Texas and I told you about ours in Hillsboro. Rick

If I am reading a few right. Then my 85 Long would be welcome at a tractor show.. are just some?
Other then cost to get there and back. Does it cost me to show? Do the sponcers feed you are another other cost perhaps. Thanks

You "beat" the professional painters? That's why if they start giving trophys and judging at the shows I attend I'm gonna quit.

i. now at our show we welcome all tractors the put them in diffrent cats. like we do 1960-older, garden tractors, 1961-say a 1984 then if new then that they have there own cat too. so every one who wants to show off there tractor can do it. no cost to enter and no sorry we dont feed you either. there is a food stand so you can buy something witch in turns helps put on the show.

im sure it would be in a show that is open to newer tractors. if you need to ask or call a tractor show near you to make sure.
