Tractor Started! New problem...

Thanks to everyone for their help in troubleshooting my tractor woes. Long story short, I was draining the gas tank and talking to the cows (I am fluent in Herford, Angus and Holstein) with the voltmeter in hand. I casually looked down at the engine and I noticed that one of the wires was split. I spliced it back together, put the fuel line back on the carb and it fired right up!

So while the tractor runs, it now requires my keeping the choke about half-way out. Before I took the carb apart to check for a stuck bowl, it would run fine with it pushed all the way in. The choke also slowly slides back in (under the power of gravity).

So now I am wondering how to: (1) adjust the idle and (2) adjust the tension on the choke.

Thanks again for all the help.

First off check your spark. Spark has to be a blue/white and jump a 1/4 inch gap. If it is not all of those your problem is spark. If your spark is good then you may need to open up the main jet a tad because it is running lean. Choke should do as your does because it should have a spring on the crab that will open it back up unless you hold on to it
