Tractor starter source?

The local shop in my area didn't want anything to do with repairing my starters, 1 for my C70 GMC and one for my Skidoo. Said it wasn't worth doing for the price of a new one from offshore.
I had the same experience with the starter from my Cat excavator with the Mitsubishi engine, and my Deere equipment starters. But really, even though the aftermarket starters may not hold up as well (so far mine have) buy two and put one on the shelf for when they fail. You still will have much less than a rebuild shop wants to rebuild yours.

DB electrical shows one for $134. I am sure it is aftermarket made in China. I have ordered 2 starters from them, so far so good.
I have probably ordered at least 10 or 15 generators, alternators and starters from them, and all were good...Only problem is sometimes they are out of stock of what I need.

Most, if not all electrical parts I've purchased from NAPA the past few years have all been manufactured in China. Along with most other parts retailers around me. That's my experience, yours may be different.

My experience too, and couple that with Napa's markup. The same import gear reduction starters I've ordered for $125 online have been over $350 at Napa. They cite "special order" along with their insane margins. They're just a middleman on a lot of stuff these days, sourcing from the same suppliers we can access.

I've ordered from them at least 4x, through their eBay or Amazon stores, I think all starters. All have been good experiences and are still going strong.

There's your solution then. I'd have told the shop I wanted American quality and reliability not the lowest price.
Only problem is that it's DOUBTFUL that a shop will have (or can find) USA made starter repair parts, unless they have or can find NOS parts.
