Tractor throttle position 9n 2n

This tractor is New to me, throttle is backwards from what I understand. At idle the lever is all the way down. When it's all the way up the carburator butter fly is wide open. The governor levers are all the way forward as if engine is not running?

Hi Wingman2, welcome to the forum.
On the engine side of the dash, there is a short link that attaches the throttle control to the long rod that goes to the governor. That short piece should be pointing to the outside of the tractor. It sounds like it's pointing in the wrong direction on yours.

Wingman , Remove the carburetor and check for the butterfly plate being installed wrong in the throttle shaft. The butterfly should be in the closed position when the shaft is at idle stop.

That was my next move, someone replaced the
carburetor on this tractor, and I don't
have the original to compare it to.
Won't get to look at it till this weekend,
but will let everyone know what I find out,

Hi Wingman2,
Your throttle shaft isnt configured for N tractors. Pic showes a correct shaft, in your clocking, to compare. Your idle set screw is on the wrong side when the connector link ball is up.

The proper clocking for the shaft itself is when the link rod from the governor rotates under the throttle shaft., as in the pic with carb labeled CORRECT.

Cant tell if your carb would work with the correct shaft
(9N9581A) or if it also is for a different application.

Just checked my carburetor is supposed to be delivered today.

My carburetor showed up,and as you said, this one is configured different.installed it, and now the throttle operation is as it should be.

Now tonight I'll be getting a full night s sleep after 2 weeks of pulling my hair out.
