Are you referring to the mold marks or the lugs peeling off? I beg your pardon, but those appear to be very old tires.

My recap tractor rears you can see where the cap blends into the tire sidewall. I have a tractor rear that looks exactly like yours. Why I don't know.

What size is that tire? All the R-1 retreads I can find on the web are 22.5"" or less.

Never seen recapped rear tractor tires. Not saying they don't exist but I've never seen it. I have seen recapped front tires, there is a company in AL that will recap old airplane tires and put either a tri-rib or quad-rib tread on them.

Those tires in the pic are just very old and are coming apart. You can tell this by the tread separation and also by the weather checking present.
