Tractor tires

OK all, here's one for you.
Does anyone have a favorite drive tire for a chore tractor that is good on snow??? I remember years ago the tractor we still have today was great in the snow. We changed tires maybe 7 or 8 years ago and from that point on the old girl has been struggling for traction. I can't for the life of me remember what tires we used to have on it. We got some cheapies to replace them with instead of brand name tires which probably didn't help. Tractor really seems to be struggling this winter, the snow we had has gone crystalline and makes ice real easy under a spinning tire. Any help would be great. Thanks, oj

My 1600 always got along pretty well in the snow when it had one old Good Year and one old Firestone on the back, worn to maybe 25-30% tread.

Can't say how it does now with the Agri-Masters on it, we don't run it in the winter much anymore.

Our 165 does alright with a pair of Titan long bar/short bar tires on it, but we also use a set of chains on it, no way we could do loader work without. It's better now than when it had the Feild & Roads on it.

full of fluid and about 150lbs steel weights on each wheel. no chains (never had them), but that is an option if i need. i just seemed to remember it didn"t have as many traction problems before. maybe my memory isn"t what it was either! lol.

I would definately put chains on. Cheaper than buying a new set of tires just to take a chance on better traction in the ice & snow.
