Tractor Update

I just thought I'd share some new pictures of the ol girl's latest upgrade since my last post. Last weekend I found a couple sets of fenders, purchased them and mounted the better pair on the 2N.

You did good. I've got a couple of fenders I took off the 8N and replaced with a better pair. Even though I don't know how to do body work, I think I will try my hand and see what I can do to fix up the old pair. Mine are in worse shape than your were, but they should give me something to practice on.

don't know how just means you ain't done it yet.

they will make great practice.

buff down to bare metal with a black 3m pad, beat dents out, add filler.. sand smooth. tack metal to the back or rusted out spots.. fill and contour.. prime and paint...

Good job! That adds some value, for sure! (If you're still wanting to sell it)

I cant remember if I complemented your ammo can tool boxes, but I like them! I have a similar set up on my rat-rod cx500, except that I used .50cal cans. They're great, watertight and durable.

My 9n is without a stock tool box, may I steal your idea? Whats your mounting system?

ammo cans are great tool boxes. i use a few like that.

otherwise maybee he has a 3pt mounted 30cal link gun.. :)

I'm still undecided, I kinda lean towards selling it one day and keeping it the next, we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the compliment and yeah go for it! I just took some 2 1/2" angle iron and cut 4 pieces 6 1/2" long and bolted them through the fender mounts on the axles, so the angle is on the inside. To attach the boxes, I used two 1/4" bolts on each piece of angle. Hopefully the attached pictures help clearify. When I put the boxes on, I guestimated how long to make the mounting brackets and got lucky that they actually worked when I mounted the fenders. One word of advice, be careful in mounting the ammo can on the side your leveling box is on. I have some problems clearing the ammo can with the handle on the leveling box if the 3 pt is not all the way up or all the way down (2N, no height control).

I mounted one ammo can backwards and one forwards because one has tools and the other has a chain, hitch pins and a couple clevises in it. Its backwards so its easier to get to from the back where those items are used most and the box with tools faces forwards so its easier to get to from the front where the tools are used the most and along with that they are mounted accordingly to which side I usually do the said work from.

Yes, the fenders do wonders for backing up, I've got something to lean on to turn around and see!

The bottom picture is of the second set I bought. The guy had two sets of fenders and one set of brackets but the brackets were on the fenders in not so good a shape, so I gave him $125 for both sets and transferred the brackets to the better pair. Gave the pair I didn't use to my neighbor.

I mounted an ammo box higher on the fender. I put the bottom of the box even with the bead on the fender. I never thought about the lift arms coming up and hitting the bottom of the box, but I got lucky and at full height they clear by maybe an eight inch.
