Transmission Flush AC G

I like to use diesel fuel for flushing. I will drive it around some to get the fuel splashing around enough to get a good job of cleaning then refil with 140 gear lube

Wash out with kerosene. With todays lubricate products i would tell
you to not bother. If you take your pinky and feel around up in the
drain hole there should be no grit of metal particals. Also look at
the drained o8l very carefully. Any water, metal fillings, stinky
smells or sour smells, etc. Others will tell you some other stuff to
look for. By the way, get oil compatible with brass parts for these
old tractors.

Which oils have problems with brass? G has hydraulics, planning to use an all purpose hyd. oil instead of gear oil.
Thank you for the tips!

Avoid oils with "EP" (extreme pressure) additives or sulfur additives.

These additives are typically found in hypoid gear oil, automotive transmission and differential oils.

Safer oils are multigrade engine oils, mineral oils.

Don't know what AC recomended, But Deere orignally recomended the 140 for a few years and changed their recomendations to 80-90 wt. Gives a lot better lubrication. Unless there is something special about that tractor that I do not know about I would not use the 140 but the 80-90wt. It will do a better job of lubricitating gears and bearings unless you are running all the time in hundred degree weather as the 140 is too think at even 60 degree to work as should. At 32 you have no lubreaciting happening with the 140 as it is so stiff the gears just cut a grove in the grease if you can get tractor to even move and when that happens then you are running dry gears.

The Deere operators manual specified kerosine but that was before diesel became popular but I have never had diesel on the farm so I dont know the gunk properties of it. I know kerosine is what I use in my parts washer.
