transmission Issues

I have not drove my 8n for a month or so. However, I have started it periodically. Yesterday I started it up and let it run for 5 to 10 minutes.

I have it parked in a shed that has a slight hump to get over in order to back it out of shed. Each time I would attempt to let out the clutch and begin to back up, my motor would bog down. If I push clutch back in the motor would build up power again or die. I tried 15 times or so with throttle turned mid way to all the way up to idle. each time getting the same results. I could not get it to move over 12" before issue would start again. I don't know what else to try.

Is the PTO out of gear?

NO, PTO is in gear. I have a blade hooked up and had raised it up before attempting to move.

Each time I would attempt to let out the clutch and begin to back up, my motor would bog down.

Brake shoes might be locking in reverse. To confirm this theory, lift rear end (both sides) and rotate tires by hand.

Check the low speed jet on the carburetor. it could be getting too much air.

I didn't get a chance to look at it last night but should get back to it this afternoon. I was thinking about the brake as that was kind of what it felt like, almost like a car with an E-brake left on.
