Transmission Lubricant

Is it still best to use SAE 90 in the trans (& first reduction) vs something like hyguard in a 830 & 720G?
What about engine oils? Is anything in a 10w-30 made anymore so can leave in in the winter too(like to start up once or twice)? Don't work them hard at all, just use once in awhile in summer. Is getting expensive to change oil & filter after just a few hours, but from calender perspective needs to be changed sometimes to keep the moisture out. Don't want to use Deere "premium" oil because of cost & don't need the extended hour interval.

Use heavy gear oil in the transmission and rear end only if the book says so. I would say in the middle 60's on up the oil is pumped to a lot of different places. Don't try to out guess the manuels.
