I just was wondering what the best tread wear would be for a new or somewhat newer tires on a tractor. As of right now im pulling a 1941 Farmall A that has about 20% tread left roughly. At a local pull this weekend i pulled it for the first time and got a 5th place in the 3000 with it. I'm very excited for the rest of the pulling season and what it will bring. Best of luck to all the rest of you out there, good luck!

Thanks for your comments

Old hard tires work best because they don't buckle as easy short tread works better because the more dirt you churn during the pull goes in front of the sled pan causing you to have to pull more.

When you say buckle as easy. Are you talking abot sidewall flex?

i would say he means the tread itself on a newer tire with a lot of tread the lugs will bend back as far as the sidewall "flexing" you want it to wrinkle some though it will be more with a newer tire vs old and hard it wont make as much difference as the lugs rolling back
