Not from Iceland!
Here’s a cheap HF winch I picked up to get me out of tight spots. Put a base plate and hooks on and adapted it for my receiver hitch as well. Pulled my full-size pickup out of the snow yesterday. Best to operate this one for about ten seconds then let it catch its breath. Not heavy-duty by any means. Oh, also good for skidding logs.

I have the next one bigger. Used it to pull a bunch of logs out of my creek. Also made a plate to go on trailer hitch. Welded a 2 inch square inside tube to my tractor bucket.

Is that wireless remote? I have heard good about the Badlands winch.
Yes, has wired AND wireless remote. The wireless worked well over 100’ away once when I was getting my tractor unstuck and the little winch needed help. For occasional use it’s ok, wouldn’t count on it every day.

I mounted a Warn 8,000 pound winch on a 1/4 steel plate that is mounted under the front of my tractor. It has helped me out many times when in a tight spot. I then mounted a shelf to protect it from the elements and mounted a toolbox on that where I store tools, a snatch block and gloves. Works great.

I can see why you might want to let it catch it's breath every little bit. It's a wee lad, only 2500lbs, and you have to remember it's only 2500lbs on the first wrap of the spool.

Don't be afraid to use a snatch block and double up the lines. I watch all these off road recovery operations single-lining everything, and hearing the winch stall and cables pop, and I wonder why they don't double up the lines more often.

I did that a few times, makes a huge difference.

I watch, when I can ,TV show, " highway thru hell" they do duty heavy truck recovery, they always use a snatch block with their
Cables

That is a great idea. Unfortunately, where I live there are so few trees I would need to bring my own tree to use it.
