Trimble EZ Guide 500 RTK

Ok, let me start by saying I need someone to talk to on the EZ Guide/EZ Steer systems that can give me some reliable info. I don't know where to go, but I have had very good help on the Oliver discussion board so far so here I am with this. I have older tractors and have been using the Trimble EZ Guide 500 WAAS, EZ boom and EZ steer on my White 2-105 as a sprayer tractor. What I found is that my repeat passes are off a bit. I am thinking of getting a EZ guide 500 with RTK with SNB900 radio which should get me more precise. Not sure if this combo works well or it is what I need. I would move the 500 WAAS to my planting tractor which is a White 2270 with EZ Steer. Had the local Trimble expert out to see my sprayer set up this past summer and the kid (using the term loosely) didn't know that this older equipment even existed or how to work it. Of course he wanted me to update to everything brand new. That is part of my problem. The technology is changing but I don't feel comfortable installing the new stuff nor do I feel comfortable dishing out big $. It seems no one at the dealership is trained on the older stuff that still works. We have been using the Trimble systems on 3 tractors for the last 3 years. The dealership said it wouldn't work on my Olivers and Whites. Literature states a different story. Anyone out there that is willing to provide an assist? Still need to acquire the 500 RTK with radio if that is what I need.

I don't think I can help from here. I bought a slightly used 250 guidance system from the local CaseIH dealer(someone returned it) a few years back. Then about 1.5 years ago added the EZ steer. That's when the challenges started. I think we finally got it working correctly. After personnel changes we have someone who will stick with it.

What's with the nonsense about this not working on a White tractor? That makes it sound like you need a different dealer for assistance. I see nothing about the system that would make a difference. Mine happens to be on a CaseIH tractor. But I still had to customize the mounting bracket for the steering motor.

You might want to check out the New Ag Talk site. They have a Precision Ag forum and many knowledgeable people.
Good Luck!

After I posted this question, I sat down with the store manager who I know fairly well. He apologized for a couple of things. Seems the corporate office likes to see new stuff go out the door. The rep I mentioned earlier had never seen or worked with a light bar system. He gave me a few names of knowledgeable individuals who should be able to help. He also indicated he wished they would have continued the light bar equipment because it is much more reasonable to get going with it.
