Troy Bilt tiller

I have a troy bilt horse with the 7 hp kohler on it. It has been setting 7 or 8 years and I just rebuilt the carb, replaced points and condenser. It will start on either but goes dead immediatly. I soaked the carb in carb cleaner for 2 days and blew it out with air, I even took it apart again and soaked it in acetone and it still runs the same. Anybody got any suggestions ?

Definitely a carb/fuel issue. Is gas even flowing in to the carburetor? Stuck needle valve maybe? If that carb sat for that long with old gas in it, then it"s gummed up good. Sometimes you just have to scrap them and start with a new one.

I wouldn"t keep staring it up on ether. Ether is hard on a motor, as it washes away oil from the cylinder walls, and is very hard on the engine components due to extreme cylinder pressure firing on ether.
