Troybilt sickle mower

I just bought a really nice looking TroyBilt (Gardenway?) sickle mower. Still has the correct locking handles for the drive wheels. Bought it knowing the engine had issues but thought it was probably a bad carb. I have decided the engine has to go - it has oil - but when you pull the ripcord you can hear parts rattling around inside - I am assuming they used it until it quit then noticed it was out of oil - the oil in it is suspiciously clean looking. It is a 5hp Briggs Quantum - I believe that is a 7/8 by 3 3/16 shaft - no owners manual - trying to find info online. Will the Harbor Freight Predator 173 vertical shaft fill this role? I've seen these sickle mowers selling for $400 to $600 the few times they come up, this one was $50 with an extra sickle.

I have a troy bilt motor with hand controls that came off a sickle mower, maybe we can get together and make a deal to get that mower going

Are you interested in selling your sickle mower? I have a 5hp Briggs Quantum that came off a mower like that and could transplant it on your unit, let me know if you wanna sell it?

That's a little too far unless you have plans to come to get near Manhattan sometime in the near future.
