Truble with clutch

Hey guys. I think I may have a problem with the clutch on my 5210. Everything worked fine when I parked it a few days ago, but when I got on it today I couldn't put it in gear. The clutch pedal feels fine But I can't get it in gear without it grinding. What's crazy is when I push in the clutch the PTO lever moves forward and when I push the PTO lever forward the clutch pedal depresses. I didn't think there weas any mechanical connection between the clutch and the PTO. Thanks for any help. I'm lost.

You received a few thoughts in reply, the other day when you asked this on Tractor Talk. To follow up on those: Did you look to see if there was an inspection cover you can remove to look at the clutch? Have you checked for possible binding between the two linkages?

It was also noted there are several variations of transmissions and clutches for that model tractor, which ones does yours have? Have you asked at the service department of your local JD dealer to see if they have any ideas, or have seen this before?

You say the PTO lever moves when you push the clutch pedal and the clutch pedal moves if you move the PTO lever. That sounds like something is binding or jammed. Where are you located? Any chance it got water/snow/ moisture in it last time you used it which froze and bound things up while setting?

Do you have the Technical (service) Manual for your tractor?

Thanks, Jim. I do have the service manual for this tractor. I live in north Texas and weather has not been the problem. I haven't done anything on the tractor yet because of other irons in the fire and I've not yet
asked the service department about this problem, but I will.Thank you for your sound advice. I'll repost with what I find.

Block/tie clutch pedal down start engine & get engine to operating temp to determine if clutch plate will free up. If that doesn't free plate then very carefully with tractor in wide open area start engine with trans in a lower gear then alternately stomp individual brake pedals

a few day back i put a clutch in a 5200 basic same set up one problem with it was that the release bearings run on the same shaft and thy had become so much dirt crud on it that both bearing would move together. also both the shaft were binding where thy went through the clutch housing
