TSC sucks again

The last 3 times I've been into the TSC store I wanted to look at one of their grader blades. But they never had one.

I asked a salesman about it today and he said they are special order items. They have a couple box blades and a couple rototillers, boom poles, middle buster and some other various 3 point stuff but they can't afford to keep one of those $400 grader blades there for customers to look at. I noticed that they proudly had some $7K four wheeler machine sitting in front. I wonder how many of those they sell?

If you look at the grader blades on their website, it says "available in stores".

I was so happy when I saw that they were building a TSC store in Hemet, not so much any more.

they're pushing them here too. i wouldn't dream of buying one at my local store - the thing is camo. sif i'm gonna run the risk of parking it in the woods and then not being able to find it again.

I know someone who let his brother in law use his 4 wheeler to go deer hunting . He had a flat and walked out of the woods . I don't think there ever found it .

The TSC here never ever has what I need. Almost always a waste of time going there. They will have a spot for the
item but the shelf will be empty most of the time.

A friend has been a TSC manager for 18 years and is very frustrated by company policy.
Used to be they(Store manager) could get a handle on what the customers wanted and how many they could sell in the average season, ordering accordingly. Not any more, the company tell them what they can stock and how many per month. Being allowed 3 mower guards per month, when he knows many customers come in early in the season and want an entire set. Company will not allow him to stock that many. Customer must special order any amount more than the 3 in stock and wait for the next shipment.

I used to work in inventory control for a multi million dollar company that makes siding for recreation vehicles and awnings for homes and many other things. We had a good inventory program. I can't remember the name of the program we used now, it was like over 15 years ago.

Once we had the program all set up, all I had to do was run MRP. That was the material requirements planning part of the program. It actually told me what I needed to order and suggested how much. We set a safety stock amount for each item and once it got down to that point MRP wanted to buy it.

The whole thing was based on sales. The program knew what we sold so it knew what we should buy. Some of the orders I put in were almost a quarter million dollars worth of material at a time. Most of this was in painted aluminum coil used in the siding and other various parts like extrusion and hardware and molded plastic pieces.

The point is, our DSI (days supply of inventory) was based on what we actually sold, not what some bean counter thought we should have. It was a big company with 16 branches all over the country.

Oh yeah, I just remembered what the name of the software was. It was called "Avante".

Sounds like you were on their website looking around, did you click the "check store availability" box to see if it was at the store you decided to go to? Shopping or looking online does not guarantee the local store will have what you are looking for.

Out of curiosity I looked up a 5' blade and checked local stores to see if it was in stock and 10 stores within 40 miles of me had them in stock, 5 of the 10 had 6' blades too. Every TSC I have been to in my area keeps a decent stock of 3-point implements, blades included, maybe there is not enough demand in that store or area to keep in stock?

I seriously doubt that keeping one grader blade in stock is going to bankrupt that store. Even if it wasn't the size that I wanted, I would at least be able to see how well or not well it was made. Not having one there for me to look at definitely means that I won't be buying one from them. So they just lost a sale.

Last Spring i bought 6 or 8 bags of lime ,40# each, the young lady who checked me out asked if I needed help? Yes I did, she came out and
loaded them for me, I might should be embarraed, but three hernia operations makes me appreciate the help and the youth of the employees.

i started my working career as a retail stock boy and moved up into management. the company had something like 60 stores. it was truly astonishing the range of quality in the stores. some stores were gems, and some were dumps. some always had the needed stock, some rarely did.

not all store managers are created equal.

I called TSC company and complained about how long it takes to replenish stuff one
time. I gave the guy on the phone an example of if I buy a simple thing like shop
towls and I pick up the only one there and come back two weeks later why is it still
empty? They guy was really nice and thanked me for calling. He took my name and
address and said he was going to send me $50 gift card. Well......That was about 10
years ago. The Pony Express must of lost it.

Evidently the bean counters would rather have empty shelves instead of keeping enough inventory on hand to restock. Just plain bad management. Then when they do get around to reordering, there's no telling how long it will be before the product gets there.

I rarely go to "brick and mortar" stores anymore for just this reason, they never have what I want in stock! Even if I check availability online, 9 times out of 10 it isn't in the store. I've even ordered things for in store pick-up and had the order canceled after I headed out to get it because it really wasn't in stock! And "brick and mortar" stores wonder why they are losing business.

I order everything online now and wait the couple of days for it to arrive. Lowers my stress level!

I will say that I do use my local NAPA and hardware store because they are very close and I want to see them stay in business.

From what I have seen the TSC stores seem to be a little high on their prices for 3 point implements. I no longer waste my time around here and head down to northern Colorado for these type of items. Much better selection and prices.

That's OK if you don't mind paying shipping charges on everything. I do order a lot of stuff from Amazon but I have their Prime account so shipping is always free and most of the time it's three day shipping.

Although shipping isn't really free, you wind up paying a little more for the item but the 3 day shipping is convenient.

If I had a pickup truck, I wouldn't mind some driving if I could find what I wanted.

I have Amazon Prime as well. Even with shipping it's still usually cheaper than in-store. And my time and peace of mind are worth way more than the difference in price.

must be the store manager not wanting to stock slow moving items. new tsc store has all this stuff and more with a decent price. Staff is always asking me if they can help me find anything and they will take the stuff out of your hands and carry it to the pickup for me.

I haven't bought much the last few
years. But I've been surprised a few
times when the price was lower at the
register than marked. They are always
freindly, helpful, and those big three
musketeer bars are great!

(quoted from post at 16:32:46 02/02/17) also don't you pay a yearly fee of almost 100 bucks for AP?

I also take advantage of their streaming video service which I use quite frequently. That and the free 3 day shipping really makes it worth it for me.

I buy enough from Amazon that it's almost worth Prime for that alone. To top it off, the Prime Video that was the reason I signed up for it gets used a lot more than I thought it would. Decent deal all around.

But isn't it free TWO day shipping?

Yes but it all depends on what time of day you place your order. Place it after a certain time and it adds a day.

Yes I do pay $104 for prime and got snookered into it, Before I went off on'em I told myself try and make it work and I did. Before I went prime I probably was paying $100 for shipping a year and passed on deals because of shipping.

Before I buy anything I can wait a few days on I always check Amazon first. Its saved me hundreds of dollars and convenient as ell. Just the week I have saved over $100 and never left the house on auto parts. I have never had to send anything back but have been told it has a EZ return button.

The Bad,,, when I buy a tool it shows folks that brought this also brought this I always take the bait hook line and sinker

Google tracking use to pizz me off it don't anymore I look at something I am interested in and wait for google to show me the deals when I surf the net. When I first went prime I could not find a deal anymore they showed the higer priced stuff first. I found if I went back a hour are so later the deals popped up.
