TSC, what a joke!

"Somewhere along the path, TSC changed their target customer from farmers to Ranchette owners."

Here the main change came when they sold their old location across from the livestock sale barn and moved not far from the Mall. That basically cut their customer base of Amish as they're not willing to drive so far out of their way and through so much traffic.

Didn't help any either that the decades old manage retired right after getting the new store opened. He probably saw the writing on the wall and simply baled.

Pretty nice employees working there now and do have fair knowledge base.

What I don't get is why they and Orscheln stock the same items (brand and all) in the same kind of aisle display. Of course the items are from China.

I used to go into TSC to look for bargains and now since I don't need inferior junk I only go in for specific needs and rarely get them even then.
Seeing that you are a fellow jayhawker I'm interested in knowing what your experience is at getting "tax exempt" items at the farm stores.
I needed some steel fence posts so I went to the local bombaars store yesterday. Saw the posts in the outside fenced in area as we drove into the parking lot. Went inside and the pert little lady cheerfully asked if she could help us. Told her what we wanted, she looked it up in her book I told her what I wanted and she says "it doesn't say that they are tax exempt". Well, I had done my homework the night before as I expected this to happen so I had printed off all the 14-16 pages from the Kansas Department of Revenue website. The law was changed in 2022 so the website had grown tremendously since then. So I handed her the page which is titled "Agricultural Exemption Certificate" and pointed to Part B, Fencing, which pretty clearly states what items of fencing are tax exempt. So while she is trying to figure out how to make this work in the register, we go out side to load the posts. When we get back into the store we see that someone we would consider to be the store manage thumbing through papers. So we get into the discussion and the guy agrees that the posts should be exempt and we had also picked picked up a some fence staples, which are also exempt. So things got rung up and we paid the bill and left. Stopped to get some gas and while I was pumping the wife was looking over the receipt and says "they charged us tax on everything" so back to the store we go and they give us a refund of the over-charge. Oh, forgot to tell that at very first during the request to get tax exemption we were told that they would need our phone number and the wife told them we had provided that at a previous purchase another location so we gave it again. They were pleasant and understanding. What has been your experience?

This escalated quickly.

I can forgive him for not knowing what a sicklebar mower is. He may not have even had a lawn to mow, nevermind a field to cut, growing up.

My father would have put his arm around him and said something like... "My boy, that mower was made before you were a twinkle in your mother's eye. I used to mow hay for hours every day with a.... yada, yada, yada"

After about a minute, the guy would have been laughing. Dad would have slapped him on the back and said... "Not your fault I can't find a 70 year old part."

And... that...the education about dealing with people with a little bit of humor and respect... an education I got from dad... means more than all the readin' writin' and 'rithmatic to me...

John Wayne... comments from Kim Darby, who was just an anxious young newbie on set... The Duke is "goals" for me, when it comes to dealing with new employees anywhere...

At Tractor Supply in NY, all you have to do is give the phone number for the farm, and tax is automatically not charged for farm-exempt items. NY state's interpretation of farm exempt items is very broad.

A walmart gril told me to look for moustraps in sporting goods. Ever notice the more metal on their faces the dumber they are? Fish hook in the lip staple in the eye brow 11 earrings and one in the tongue tho they canth thalk and just about all their brains are sucked out.
I like the ones with the little hog ring in their nose.
