point in it but it is different and would

They couldn't afford a bigger tractor, but they could afford to monkey around with three different engine combinations??? Sounds like someone was just a very mechanically minded cheapskate...

Well let?s see. Late 50s early 60s. You could probably go to any salvage yard and buy a good running engine for less than a hundred bucks. Or you go out and buy a new road tractor which even back then probably cost in the neighborhood of 10 grand. They were hauling grain not over the road freight. Probably not a whole lot of profit margin there to begin with. Necessity is the mother of invention.

I saw that truck last April at the Keystone truck and tractor museum just outside of Richmond VA. In the pic it appears to be in the new addition that they opened the day after I was there. On that day it was one of a dozen or so that were staged to move into the new part.

Pretty much an international truck with diamond T name plates. Interesting that he used the buick
transmission along with the added engine. I am sure that thing drove nose heavy as the old cabover
without that engine out there was somewhat heavy already in front. Those were the early days of
power steering and if a guy had that truck he sure would want to have power steering.
