TW15 duel power

Does any one know what the problem is if the Dual power is slipping in low but its fine in high on a TW15

And how difficult is it to fix ?

Thanks

Early TW-x5 models used only one plate in low range and were prone to slipping - this was done for fuel economy reasons. After a few years a
service bulletin came out advising adding a second plate like the older models (e.g. TW10-30) used. Fixing is not hard, just need to split it
behind the engine and it's right there in the front of the trans case. Special clamps are needed to install the low range piston snap ring.

Thanks for the information, this one is a 1988, I'm keen on buying to rebuild I just want to make sure it's cost effective for a project job, it needs some tlc and they are asking for 12,000 for it . I would think it needs engine rebuild if I wanted to get back to good.

A 1988 model should have already been converted back to the two-plate design at the factory. If so, I can think of no good reason why the low
side would start to slip before the high side, as most often it's the high side that gives trouble. Pressure testing would be in order at
this point.

12K is a bit steep for a tractor that needs engine and transmission work, IMHO. Either that, or inflation is much worse than I thought.

Thanks for the advise, yeah I was thinking more like 8 k considering I dont know what else could be potentially wrong with her once I get into investing the slipping issue, I think I need to get more information about it, maybe they have the year wrong
