That is interesting. Now on the parts side it is usually an "A" followed by the letters listed above. Like AR,AT,AE,AC so what does the "A" stand for? On the early tractors the AA was the A and AB was the B and the AF was the G and that followed untill the end of the two cylinders. Tom

It's been many yrs since I've given much thought to your statement but you're correct. On part #s for Waterloo/Dubuque tractor the difference between part #s with 1 or 2 prefix letters indicates something about the part physical configuration but I can't remember exactly what it means. The correct answer will HOPEFULLY arrive in my "Old Timers mind" in a little while or maybe someone will enlighten us.

On subject of part # which you're probably aware but other members may not aware of when searching for availability/prices or information on part #s never have spaces between letters & numerals. Always drop off/ignore suffix letters on part #s with 5 or more numerals.

Usually if memory serves me correct the A in front of the R or T or even H usually was asn assembly of more than one individual part that is why the R or T or even H are individual pieces.

Parts with single letter prefixes were a single part where a part
made up of two or more pieces had two letters in the prefix.
For example AB5335R was a 520/530 main bearing housing B3733R that included the bearing.
While AA6253R was a 620/630 main bearing housing A4543R that included the bearing.
I think the A's and B's indicated that the 620 was a descendant of an A while the 520 was
descended from a B or something like that. Same way with a 50 or 60.

Prior to Deere's purchase of Lanz and the subsequent design and production of combines at Zweibr?cken (mid 1960's), the "AZ" and "Z" prefixes were used on parts for hay mowers, such as the No. 5, produced at Harvester Works.
