Tye Grain Drill Model 114-4360

Just bought a 15ft Tye Grain drill with a no till caddy on it. Was previously used to plant beans etc. This will sound dumb but I no nothing about this drill and purchased because it seemed like a decent deal and needed a unit to plant hay crops and cover crops etc. I would like to know if anyone on here knows how to adjust the seed flow rate on this type of drill. I have a manual on the way but would like to know anyones previous experiences with adjusting. I will be planting rye grass, cereal rye, and wheat primarily. Drill seems to have the sprocket on the side of it with a chain running to the drive sprocket. I do know this controls the speed of the drill however is there a way to close and open where the seed drops out of the drill into the seed cups to slow the seed rate down?

Theres a lever on it somewhere that adjusts the seeding rate
for whatever rate you want to drill , I have a scale that i use to
calibrate my drills so I can calibrate the drill to any kind of
seed I want whether it is on the drill chart or not

Thanks for the reply so I should be looking for a lever? I take it the rate is adjusted by closing and opening the seed cups? Thanks

on the RH or LH end of the shaft that the flutes are on is a knob to adjust your rates. some seed require you to change chain sprockets.
get the book manual before messing with to much. for fluffy seed you can make your own agitator shaft. not hard to do.

Why can you not plant oats and light seed with out an agitator? I've planted oats and even alfalfa with our Great Plains and it doesn't have an agitator in it. Plants fine.
For the adjustment it should set by drive for the seed rate to get in the ballpark then with a lever to adjust the seed cup width in the box on the shaft. Calibration will need to be accurate.

I was under the impression that I did not necessarily have to have the agitator as well. Although would be a definite plus with it. I believe the sprocket on the side of the seed box is the correct size. Did not have time to look at the drill this evening after I got off work but I do have access to the manual. Was able to get the electronic version from Agco. Hopefully I can study up and take a look at it tomorrow evening!

Like Bonaparte said, there is a knob wheel on the side that moves the meter in or out in the cup. There ay still be a chart inside the doors to give you an idea where to set them for different seed. You
may have to use a small tape to check the opening, and a small tap hammer to move the meter shaft.
