Hello- trying to help my dad determine which radiator he needs for his Ford tractor. I m not sure if this photo is helpful. Serial number 312476. Someone told him it was a 64 Ford 4000, but not sure if that is accurate. He has a pinhole leak in the radiator. If you have any ideas that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Rather than replacing your radiator with an aftermarket unit, repairing or re-coring your OEM unit is preferred if there is good radiator shop in your area.

The OEM radiators are of much higher quality and fit as intended.

That is not a serial number. It is located below air cleaner along with model number. That is a engineering number for R/A center hsg.

I agree with Dean. If you have a good
radiator shop in your area take it to
that and have it rebuilt. Aftermarket
ones are not great. I just had my
Ford 5000 diesel radiator rebuilt. No
it was not cheap and it was more
expensive than an aftermarket
replacement but it will fit and now
it will last many more decades.

BTDT. If you re-core the old radiator it will fit. If you buy a replacement it will probably be cheaper than a re-core but may not fit. I didn't tune in to Dean's advice and ended up returning the radiator I bought from YT and re-coring my original.

Be sure and buy new <a href=https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-4000_Radiator-Mounting-Bolt-Kit_351641S8.html>mounting bolts</a>, <a href=https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-4000_Radiator-Mounting-Pads-Pack-of-2_180705M1.html>mounting pads</a> and <a href=https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-4000_Bumper-Side-Panel-To-Hood_NAA88131B.html>upper pads</a> from YT.

Pin hole leak would have just been the hole soldered, now only if bad would
would recoring have been considered. Any one good at soldering should be
able to fix.

On a sixty-year-old tractor, presumably with the original radiator, it's highly unlikely it will only need one repair. But with a new core, it should go another sixty years.

The hardest part of having a radiator fixed is finding someone that can fix it properly. No different than machine shops radiator repair shops have gone the way of the Dodo Bird.
