U joint at steering gear box

57 round nose 310 with B/H, I have the roll pin out at the front u joint at the gear box, How do I get it to slide off? Whats the trick, don't want to use heat, too much grease and dirt. Its the last thing left before I split the tractor. Case shop manual states move reward. The loader/ back hoe frame is in place making it some what tight at the steering gear box.

Thanks
Charlie

Had the same problem with my 630. Pull the U joint clips and separate the U joint from the yolk on the steering gear. Then a small 2 arm gear puller will pull it right of with no effort.

Good info CNT hadn't thought of that since I don't have one, may need to build one in the future when I start engine rebuild on the 630.

Well I hope a new yoke can be had from Case, after too many hammer blows to my hands, I took the cutting torch to the yoke. After spliting it, it looks to be a double clutch from the pics that I have seen here on the board.

Thanks again
Charlie
