U Joint size

If I wanted to order a U joint. How is it measured? The cup has a 12 on the end. That's all I can find. Stan

If it is on a piece of manufactured equipment it will be in a parts book. If it is a unknown joint, take it in to Motion Industries or Kaman Bearing to get it matched up. Jim

Any good parts store should be able to fix you up.

Any Napa or place with one of us old school guys can tell by looking at it. When I needed one on the grain truck I had driven it to town. The old guy at Napa walked out, bent down and glaced at it, and went inside and got the part. No book. No computer.

Outside diameter of the cup and the measurement from top of cup to top of cup, when installed should get what you want. LOcation of the retaining rings will confirm it.
