U manifold

Can I replace the old style manifolds for my U for the new
style (like the 602?) I am hoping this will solve the burning
paint on the side hood issue. Is there anything I am missing?

Jayberd,
You can install the newer M5 style manifolds on a U and get an instant horsepower boost. You will also burn paint off the hood skirts even faster. You lose about a half inch of space with the new #10A9465 manifolds.

You might try wrapping the manifold with some header wrap. Its available at most auto parts stores and all the hot rod shops.

670 LP manifolds work well, gives you a little more room between exhaust manifold and sheet metal but not much. 670 lp manifolds are a little more streamline than the M5/602 gas and flow even better yet.
