Looking into buying a UB diesel. I know farmers swapped blocks and cranks to get more cubes back in the day. I’d like to build a diesel puller. Just wonder what blocks and cranks guys put in these? And are they basically a direct fit? And part numbers would be appreciated so I can find the right parts. Thanks!

Might try posting this question on the M-M page. I know some about Molines but not enough to do you any good. Probably start with a 6” crank and 336 jugs. How much horse after that will depend on your checkbook

To have any chance at all, Start with a 670 Diesel crankcase. Then find a 585 Diesel motor from a A4T 1600 4X4. Motor can be in a lot of things. Like big Olivers and 1350 MM. You need the whole engine. Lots of little things. I believe a 585 has a 5.5" stroke. So you will need to stroke your 670 crank. Also this is the time to measure everything and push your pistons as far up as possible . So you CV hzg tllll dd gr gr f might be able to stroke the crank like .650 ? Need the compression up in the 20's to 1
The reason you need a 585 motor is because it is Direct Injection. Every other MM diesel has a pre-combustion chamber. Can't handle a lot of extra fuel. But your problem is 3 main bearings. Better off to build a 711 gas motor. You can build a 493 gas motor with stock parts. But it would be different . I pull a diesel Allis D17. It can run 8 mph classes. So it can be done.

There is a guy in Wisconsin with a 336 based diesel engine with a big square injector pump on the side and the injectors not in the stock holes but up higher in the head. Last weekend he went 8 mph in a 5000 class. Look up frannybadger on YouTube .
