(quoted from post at 11:59:48 12/28/21) Might be a hack.

I have one too, and it appears to be spam/phishing.

Dean
ame here....asking for a favor. Haven't opened.

I was hacked.
Sorry but not my fault.
Trying to deal with yahoo is like beating your head against a brick wall.
The account is now blocked.
When or if? they let me log in again I may just delete the account.
Too bad. I've had that email since 2003.

Seems someone is targeting and harvesting e-mail addresses from sites like this. I had the exact same message from a member on another tractor site here in England a few weeks ago.

I knew the person concerned so I e-mailed the site rather than return his e-mail. They wanted me to buy a present for his niece as he was travelling and had left his wallet at home !!!!!

It was a hack and the address owner had to set up a new e-mail address.

Whoever it is that hacked the account is still in it. I just sent a reply. Sorry Jerry, I simply cannot make that trip to town right now. *lol*

I had a feeling it might be something like this. Wish now I would have called you rather than confirming my email address. Will probably end up with a ton of spam emails now. *sigh*

We probably shouldn't have replied. I
just got an email from yahoo security
instructing me to click the link to verify
agreement to something or else I'll be
denied access to yahoo. The sender is
random gibberish @ verizon . net. Lots
of red flags. Delete! And report.

They get ya when you're busy and tired.

Stay safe and question everything

Noticed their reply-to address is
ultradogmn1 @ gmail . Com
I think they use your existing address as
the from (couple keystrokes in settings)
and don't even have to be logged into your
email account. It helps if you take their
bait and give them your password, but
since they are trying to redeem gift cards
they don't need access to your account,
just your contacts list and a valid
address recipients will recognize.

Too much work for us honest types...

I contacted Yahoo and there is nothing they can do. Or so they say. They will delete the account.
It is a hassle - for all of us and I'm sorry to have caused it for so many people.
I have had that email since 2003.
Have to let it go.

Didn't mention this before, but I have Thunderbird download every email to my PC. It's all still there on the server, but with limited internet, I don't have to download more than once.

That said, I haven't gotten rid of Yahoo because our email addresses go back for many years. It's nice to have a record, especially as more and more companies are limiting how far back your Purchase History goes. Both eBay and Walmart started limiting how far back you can look.

If you have been considering ANY other email service, this would be the time to look into it. I still have all my back emails, yet still I'm wary of switching even though I'm kinda fed up with Yahoo.

o apology needed.......it has or will happen to all of us....we have no control.

Yt forum platform removed some quotation marks i had placed, so i need to clarify: The email is suspicious and only claims to be Yahoo Security.

Stay diligent by remaining inactive ;)

Harold Cooke was hacked last week by several of us tractor guys. Highly suspicious email with a similar addy, asking for cash to be sent as he was out of the state and needed a gift card for his girlfriend with cancer. Huh? WTF? I have a hunch it was one the trolls on the other N-club.
