Underrated Case Tractors

Just to start some good Case discussion...What Case tractors do you feel do not get enough praise? I will start with the VA series. They had a lot of power for their size and came in many varios shapes including: VA, VAC, VAO, VAS, VAC 13, VAI, VAH, etc. Many of them are still in use today.

I was not into the v series but to me the CC and RC

I would agree the Va series was underrated, the other one to me is the Racine built Case-o-matics, they are so darned handy and people cuss them like the plague, once you learn how to operate them they are super slick, I've squared baled a lot with and behind one, they are great when you get light and heavy spots, direct when light, kick her into convertor in the heavy stuff and iff needed brake and let the pto speed stay up but ground speed slow way down!

Bill,

I would say the DC doesn't get the respect it deserves. A late model DC with live PTO and live hydraulics and 4 inch pistons could hold its own with any competing brand, yet they are talked down upon for the unique steering system that is more comfortably positioned than those straight up over the hood designs. A very good machine that just doesn't get the credit it deserves. IMHO Don

Yes and no on that one. I have some bugs to work out of my late DC. But it is not as smooth as i had hoped for.

I've heard it said, "The Case DC tractor. In first gear, it can pull the Earth. In second gear, it can't rake hay". But, I love them!

Vac and LA.
Both very stout tractors.

We have two model D case tractors. I love em. The one is my go to tractor for little jobs and when belt starting other tractors.

I am extremely excited to report that I just became the owner of a 35 L. Have not taken possession yet so haven’t started asking questions but operators manual ordered. I don’t think these were considered underrated unless run on gas vs. distillate but thought I’d chime in
We recently got a 1938 L running. It was seized but we got the pistons loose and it runs good now. They were one of the more powerful tractors on the market in thier day. well known for their dependability. they have quite a fast first gear.

I think va series , they have a lot potential , I’ve pulled against the them they usally beat me by 10 to 15 feet. So I ask why ,in paper data , they tested pretty close to Farmall C but in reality head to head it’s not even. So if I get under ten feet of one thats a victory to me . No way a C 113 cid like mine can compare to ca at 140 cid kit .

@brendonh I had to read your post like four times to follow it lol, took it as a bash at first. My 1030 is an absolute beast, I also have a 1370 that is sitting somewhere around 225 hp, if you can keep it on the ground itll pull the nnalert out of the earth! she needs some ballast for sure. we had a 2590 that was right at 350hp for almost 7000 hours, full rack of weights and 20.8x42s dualled full of fluid it seriously would do it, after we got the 9330 we turned her down to about 250hp or so, never did open here up other than to set valves a couple times and do the initial pump, injector, and turbo mods! it left here with 8600-8700 hours and never used more than 1qt of oil in 10 hours pulling the snot out of it or playing with the grain cart.
