Do you remember what engine was in the A? Was it an A or AII?

It was a 64 A2, had a straight 6 Chrysler industrial in it.

You thinking about the MF? I thought the Gleaner had the AC(Buda) 262. I thought it had the same engine as the C, which I never understood. Also never understood why they made the A and E at the same time- they were so close in size.

Nope, it was a Chrysler. The MF had a 318 Perkins. Who manufactured the buda?

Buda was the early large, diesel engine manufacturer AC bought in 1955(I think) from which most of their larger engines sprang.

Plenty of Buda gas engines out there. Cockshutt 30, 40 and 50 tractors all had Buda gas or diesel engines. One model of Gleaner combine had the same four cylinder gas engine as a Cockshutt 30. Pretty sure there was a larger six cylinder gas engine used in the bigger Gleaners too.

Yes, still use the trailer to haul hay. It has an electric over hydraulic hoist, we built the sides for it. I haven't used it to haul grain for several years now.

Erik,are you sure? A 1964 A2 Gleaner should have a 230 Buda
OHV engine..A neighbor had a brand new one..

I always liked unloading because that meant I had a crop to
sell..

It is possible that I am mistaken, however I distinctly recall a Chrysler Id tag on the block. I bought the machine from the original owner and also received a wash tub full of parts. I never bought any ignition parts for it, I ran it 4 years until I bought the Massey with a corn head. I sold the A2 to a neighbor who parted it out and scrapped it.

I just found this ad for an A2 with a Chrysler, leads me to believe that existed, but I don't know where to find more info, I'll post on the AC board and see what those guys think.
