Unrestored Fergy

Came across this unrestored (barn find) Fergy and was very impressed. There were many other tef's & 35's most of which were painted the wrong colours.

This got me thinking how rare such a tractor is. Once "restored" to better than new, so as many are, they can never be returned to their original state.

All mine look like they are working tractors, but nothing bent, no dents and as original as possible.

Maybe I'm unique in thinking this way, but think twice before deciding to preserve or restore.

There seems to be a great interest in totally original tractors now , more so than ever before .
Usually a novice will paint their tractor almost before pumping up the tyres . Restorers now will often go to great lengths to preserve the patina and integrity of a previously unpainted but cared for tractor .
I have two , a 1951 TEA20 , there was no question of not painting this as it was so bad in places and had had at least six coats before . My Other a 1957 FE35 Grey and Gold is in reasonable condition , I am glad I resisted the urge to paint it , with a wipe over with oil it looks every bit of its sixty odd years , still a handsome machine .

Looks just like one we had (without Loader) when I was a lad. - long time ago.

Well done for resisting tempation and comments from those who don't know better.

While I was admiring this one, I heard someone say that he should save up to buy some paint.
I managed to resist responding - restraint was once again a good thing.

I even did worst than just repaint, I changed colors,

I have a 1957 TO 35 Fergy I changed the color from beige and gray to red and gray, looks more modern, but I wish I had not changed the color,

Can always change it back someday if I want, but probably will never happen,

In this case the tractor was already past the point of no return and you have definately improved it.

The right decals would improve it even further.

I'm at a crossroads with putting the decals on it, I would like to get the hood (bonnet) that the UK135's had. I'm not a fan of the floppy hoods we have on the US models, if it would give you access to the top of the engine it would be ok. I am also reworking a cab with A/C to put on it so that's another reason I haven't put the decals on it yet.
