Unstyled block verus Styled block

How far can you safely bore an unstyled block and styled block. Also how far can you stroke an unstyled with out having to notch the cam or window the case Thanks

some us blocks can go 5 7/8 but it would have to be straight and round in the casting .5 3/4 is good on all blocks. 8" with the right rod combo.

I always stop at 5.75". You can sometimes get 5.875", but sometimes you don't. Kind of find out the hard way. I'd rather not find out for the extra 2-3 HP you might gain.

I would suggest you get over your fear of notching the case to make the crank fit. If you go to the aggravation of pulling the crank, spend a couple extra hours making it fit. You'll be happy you did. Otherwise, next year, you'll have an 8" crank you'll be trying to find some poor fool that wants to build a tractor but doesn't want to go thru the case and is looking for a used crank for 1/2 price

I don't if you will get 8 without notching the cam or the back of the case.. never tried.. I think you'll end up notching one or the other.. as bpuller said.. You'll be much happier if you notch them both to start with...
