Update and question on 2640 hydraulic problem

Replaced hydraulic filter and cleaned screen (not very dirty) and still wouldn"t work. Turns out the splines in the pump drive coupler are stripped. The shaft splines seem ok. So a new T22915 along with bushings is needed. Would like to use OEM but looks like price is twice as much as others on line.

Question - Can the oil seal on the splined input shaft on the pump be replaced externally or is it a pump disassemble project? Looks like there may be a tiny bit of oil there.

Thanks,
Lee

Hyd pump requires complete disassembly to replace internal quad ring to stop leaking.

That seal you see on the outside is just a dust and debris seal and is not the high pressure shaft seal that is inside the pump. But yes - in answer to your question - the outside seal CAN be replaced without taking the pump apart.

In addition to the below info there is a leak off line usually plastic that goes back somewhere at the rear end and dumps excess oil to the sump.
Make sure this line is intact and open all the way to aid in excess oil removal.
This is to help with oil leakage from between the two seals.
