Update on 3020LP

Thanks for the help. The Destroke valve and fresh battery did the trick. I also moved the ground from the battery off the frame rail to the starter mounting bolt. It starts like a champ now.

Does anything start better than a LP in the cold?

It sure is. The old thing has always started fair except in the cold. Now with the destroke valve screwed in it really cranks good and starts much faster. I do really like the propane. Not many around here seem to want them.

My fil has a 4010 propane with a fe loader. That's about the only thing he does with it. But it always starts in the cold.

I live in sw oklahoma; did you get lots of snow, or should I say did you get big drifts?

I am glad you have luck with them in the cold but my experience with LP gas in cold weather is terrible starting. I have an AC forklift, that will not start unless you plug it in first. My 70 LP just flat out sucks starting below 30. I also had a 87 F250 set up on propane that would turn over way to long before it started. Like I said, glad you have had good luck but I have seen the exact opposite here in Michigan.

I used to run a 860 AC cotton stripper and I would do custom work all winter. It had a 250 chevy engine that had a propane system added. I think it had a 'century' regulator on it. Every morning, even below freezing, I would turn on the key, let it sit for five to ten seconds, then crank and it would usually start right up. My 79 F-150 was also on propane and it was the same....
It sounds like you might need a good lp mechanic.... I'm not one. Sorry for your trouble.

Most of it blew off my place except I thought a three rail fence would look good down the west side of my driveway. I did not know a three rail fence could cause a four foot drift the length of my driveway. Right smack dab in the middle of it. Worked four hours Christmas morning to clear it so my mother in law could go home before something really bad happened. lol
