Update on Baler needle

Well I and bought a new needle, $105 thank you, put it in adjusted it to specs and the went and baled another 200 bales with no problem. Never did find out why the old One broke but did notice that they made a change in the shape (more curve in the new one.)
We got 420 60 lb. bales off that 5 acres 12.6 tons. Not bad.

Hey walt,,Save your old needle,,Years ago my dad used to vee out his broken needles and weld them with a nickle rod...I remember we were running a needle that had been welded three different times...In fact i think i might still have some of them nickel rods left over? I here tell they have gone up in price to. :o)
 
I have some real good rod for that already welded the lower aprt but I'm missing the 4 in. center section. BUMMER
