update...unwanted excitement

Today was electrical Took down the old ballast and took it with me to get new ballast. Old one was "4" wire and new was "5"...after talking with store clerk (electrical supply NOT a Lowes/Home Depot), I figured I could make it work. After getting home, the more I looked at how things "were" and with new one in hand, decided "no way". Then discovered that the fixture itself had a loose wire that could not be tightened. Long story made short...$58.74 and only minor %^$% and I have a new light fixture over work bench...and it actually came on when I flipped the switch The stench from yesterday is still quite noticeable in the shop, but still feel quite lucky about the whole thing. Maybe when it cools down some I can leave doors open and let it air out. Enjoying the AC too much to leave doors wide open in this heat.

Hello snoop nc,
The smell may linger for a bit.
Wet evaporator coil will hold it for awhile.
You may have to change the filter, or clean it to get the majority of the smell out.
You did luck out.
Guido.
