UPS and a tractor part...

Where I work we once got a damaged box of lawn Mower parts. Inside was a perfect air cleaner cover for about a mid 70s chevrolet. UPS didn't want it back, so it is now on my '69 GMC.

Another time, we got a damaged box with some electrical conduit couplers we didn't order stuffed inside and taped over.

"Damaged" package arrived back at the shipper today. It is unclear if my part made it back, or just the box.

Monday, they are shipping me a "new" part, I sure hope it does turn out to be "new" and not just a damaged part, repackaged!

That is ASSUMING it successfully makes it's way across the country to me!

Ordered some parts from ASAP yesterday. Had I known where they were coming from I could have gotten my parts today at work. Instead they will go from Buffalo - New Stanton then back north to my local hub which is Kane, PA. Change of address and they could have gone from Buffalo to Falconer and in my car at 7am break

We had an upper feeder house shaft disappear during shipping the shipper sent it in the lower drum you could see straps and wrap and the ticket said 153 lbs 2 items and and it didn’t make it…I’m not sure if the shipper intended to have them carry it like the Arc in Indiana jones or what but somewhere in the UPS world there’s 5 foot by about 3 inch 83 lbs shaft rolling around. One would think it would be noticed. Or its in the back of a drivers personal truck as winter weight…

Shipper was good and probably knew he shouldn’t have shipped it that way he said don’t waste your time with them you won’t ever see it I’ll send you a new one.

I once purchased a front steel wheel for a Model D John Deere. Sent a Call Tag, it was picked up by the UPS man but was lost after that and never found.

UPS about three years ago delivered a taped up box with a big bag of dog food. The box was twice as big as needed.
Arrived all taped up, dog food was fine as it comes in that tough to tear bag.
But also in the box was another taped up box with about 40 traded in cellphones from an AT&T store going to their refurbishing center.
There was no reason it should have been in our box since the phone box had been re-taped also and the shipping label was still on it.

My sentiments exactly. Whatever was in the box, escaped from the box.

What was in the box? If it was a heavy lump of something, it could still break through the box no matter how much packing material you included.
I bought a 16" new chain saw off ebay. Got the package and the blade was missing and there was a hole in the cardboard box where the blade exited. Contacted seller, sent me a new blade, done deal.

Recently bought 20# of White Clover seeds from a farmer in NC off ebay. USPS register shows the package arrived from him at the facility....no tracking after that. Contacted the seller and mentioned that maybe 20# was a bit much for a mail carrier. He said he would work the problem with USPS and meanwhile shipped me 20 more pounds of seeds via UPS. They made it here.

So the question is what happened at the USPS post office? Was in fact the package too heavy? Did it get set aside and "lost" by somebody that didn't feel like lifting it? Did it wander off.....lot of that happening at the USPS per the "news" media.
