US General Toolboxes

Any of you own a US General Roll chest tool box from Harbor Freight? I just ordered a new series 3 last night. Hopefully I will like it. Bigger than the last tool box had the last few decades. just for shop/farm use at home. Kow Farmer Kurt

I have one I picked up used a few years ago. Added it to my 40:year old Craftsman set. There is no question in my mind that the US General drawers work smoother. It’s now my primary box. I’m very happy with it.

I bought the 72" one about a year and a half ago to replace my MAC box. Also very happy with it. Just took a little bit to get used to the drawer locks.

I bought the 42" x22" model. I agree with the locking drawers. That may take some getting used to as well. But I am looking forward to it. Kow Farmer Kurt

I bought a small 5 drawer work cart about 10 years ago when I brought my 42" craftsman home from the factory. Used the small one at work till I retired in Dec. 2020 has held up well.

I purchased 2 of the 42” bottom cabinets 6-7 years ago, I cut the top long drawer section off of both and incorporated them into a new work bench I was making

Last year on of the longer draws on the right side stopped locking closed, when you close it it’ll drift back out 1/2”-1”
Otherwise all drawers are rolling good even with the 2 big drawers loaded pretty heavy

I’ve had the biggest one for a couple years now. No problems at all. It rolls nicely when loaded. The locks aren’t the nicest to use, but for a hobbyist tool box, it’s very nice. If I was a pro, I would’ve gotten the Icon brand box. Those are pretty comparable to a Snap On for 1/4 the price.

I have been using a vintage Snap-on for twenty years. It is getting tired. Probably my drawers are overloaded. I am thinking of a new or newer one but they seem to all be too big for rolling around to different parts of my shop and they seem to all have only full widtrh drawers when I need only half or third width for many of my tool classifications.

I've been stuck on Waterloo boxes for several decades. If the drawers get overloaded, it's time for cleaning, lubrication, and more drawers.

Bought the 42” maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Not sure on the timeline. I have been very happy with mine.

I am doing good. Getting chemo treatments in kato now. Really helps not driving to Rochester for me. How are you getting along?

I'm getting along just fine. Thanks for asking. Really a battle getting some good hay baled up this year. Probably have around 5000 baled so far. Half that is sold. All the junk I am either hauling to Bel Plain auction or Sleepy Eye. Looks like that's what a lot of people are doing. Not much premium hay out there.

I was looking for some new tool boxes about 5 years ago , did a lot of research on all the different boxes , price/quality , I came up with the US general boxes being the best bang for the buck , I went out and got the 72" bottom with the 50" top , very good in my eyes , I would definitely buy more
