Stan, north of you in Oregon, I get $4.00 for used 6 ft in good shape. No problem selling them.

Yep new price or even higher at auctions. Same way with gates.

The might be worth more than the new ones sold now,some of the new ones these days are thinner and lower grade metal than the older posts.

I have some that might be 20 years old. I have used them a few times and the spade falls off. I have seen them for 2 bucks on craigslist and Facebook.

If the spade is off just turn them upside down when you drive them in good as new.

What are they worth? Depends, most I've seen are worth scrap price, $70 a ton.

I helped a guy put up an electric fence. We got lazy and used his front loader to plant (push) the T posts in the ground. Most of the used ones bent or snapped off when a deer came along.

Around here, used T posts will bring nearly as much as brand new. When I need posts, I just go to the farm store and get what I need.

They seem to go for close to the same price at auction as they cost new at the Farm Stores. I gave up at auctions and Craigslist and just buy new when I need some, about 4 bucks @ depending on the length.

The Big Iron auction has two listings for 400 in each pile at 2.78 per and 8 ft long. Located in Kansas.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like 2.00 is a fair price. I have some on Craigslist now for 2.00. The only response I have is someone offered me 1.50 for 100 of them. Maybe I should take it, to get rid of them. I have a bunch of them. Stan

it's cheaper to buy new.

Do you have any consignment auctions around? It may be worth loading up 100 or so and putting them out in piles of 25. Maybe even two piles of 25 and 5 piles of 10.

Don't let the auctioneer pile them up all 100 together. It's too intimidating for people who may only need a few; even though you are selling them by the piece and they can take as many as they want, they still think they have to buy the whole pile. Same mind game works on the ones who buy all 100. They're likely to pay more per post in smaller lots than all 100 at once. When you pay $2.50 each on a pile of 100, that's a lot of money... $3 on stacks of 10 at a time doesn't seem like as much.
