Using Loctite on new sleeves

How is it done? This is Locktite 640. What do you apply it with and where does it go, on what part of sleeve or block, etc.? Any safety considerations? Will pass info on to mechanic. Couldn't get answers in Archives. Thanks in advance. Angelo

I apply it to the top 1" or so of the OD of the sleeve and then drive them fully home. I spread the stuff with my finger. It cures quickly once you cut off the air supply so don't stop with the sleeve less than fully home.

Why do you feel you need it? If the fit on the sleeve is correct it's not needed and will make disassembly next time much more difficult.

I had a sleeve bouncing up and down in my 960's motor. I took them all out and used loctite sleeve sealer to "glue" them in. I just smeared it on with my fingers and pushed the sleeves in. I picked up two tubes just in case but one was plenty. Like Hokie says you want them to go all the way down fairly quickly.
