UTS Belt Pulley

I have manuals on the way, so soon I can answer my own questions. In the meantime, are all the “U” model belt pulleys interchangeable? Are the internals already in tractors with no belt pulley….just the plate?

The belt pulley drive is a unit in itself. The drive bevel gear is in the trans and the driven gear is on the unit. It's an easy installation but must be shimmed to get the proper mesh.A friend had a ZA with a terrible noise, thinking it was the clutch, turns out the pulley drive was not shimmed properly, making a heck of a noise. That model also has a unit which inserts just like but not the same as the U models.

Drive gear is in all. Three different belt pulley setups. First ones had a split pulley until mid 40's. Then bolt on pulley with hub. All same drive. In early 50's pulley drive had a disconnect so it didn't run all the time when clutch engaged.

I will be looking for a complete belt pulley assembly for my UTS. I want then latest dis-engaging type. Central or Northern WI is preferable.

I agree. You want the dis-engaging type drive. On my '48 model, the inertia from the belt pulley woudl push it about 6 ft. after the clutch was disengaged.

I have those units.. With or without the Pulley.. Northern Ill, about 100,miles south of Madison.

If not in a hurry I have a grand daughter who lives in Wasau.
